Our Story:
“Inspiring Perspective, Prevention and Connection”
ASK was created in the depth of extreme need by passionate and experienced individuals who knew to follow their instincts and work together to create mental health programs that were effective, efficient and with prevention as the focus. ASK programs are context-specific, they break down previous stigma and barriers associated with mental health education and training by utilising a series of preventative strategies and language that speaks to the everyday person.
ASK was created with the purpose of achieving these goals:
Focus on the core of the individual and ask them to take responsibility for their thoughts feeling and actions.
Ensure individuals know how to support themselves and others and can recognise access support networks
Teach strategies from a space of lived experience and research to ensure individuals know how to access and apply these skills to improve health and wellbeing.
Trent Chapman, Founder of Prevent Consultants, spent over 10 years working in the mental health first aid space as a master trainer, delivering programs to thousands of people. Trent teamed up with highly experienced and well known Mental health Nurse and First Aid Trainer Steve Carrig to create the ASK preventative mental health and wellbeing programs with the aim to inspire, educate and connect.
Kellie Coates brought over 23 years of experience in the education and health, fitness and wellbeing space together with Trent and the team to create and deliver workshops with a unique and effective perspective to staff, students and the community. ASK workshops have been in action in schools in northern NSW and New Zealand. Our school holiday camps and before and after school programs grew from acknowledgment of the need to give kids a positive and movement based activity where they can also learn the skills and strategies they need in the game and in life. These programs are delivered by our team who have specialist skills in the sport or activity and who are highly trained in the space of preventative mental health.
The programs are delivered:
Schools as workshops and weekly programs
Community as before and after school activities and school holiday camps.
Online as personal and professional development webinars
